Philippe Weisbecker - Le service Shell à travers le Sahara
Most often, Philippe Weisbecker's drawings record series of objects or architectures. These series are usually recorded in old school notebooks or sketchbooks. This new facsimile is no exception to the rule: administrative buildings, trucks, mosques and pumps inhabit a paper desert filled with a cryptic logic. For this new book, the author was inspired by The Sahara’s Automobile and Air Tourism Guidebook, intended for a wealthy clientele eager for adventure. It is an opportunity for Weisbecker to immerse himself in the atmosphere described to him as a child by his father who lived there in the 1930s.
