
Tamami Iinuma - Piece of Colonne, Fragments of Waves
Tamami Iinuma was born in Tokyo in 1983. She completed her D.F.A. at Tokyo University of the Arts, Graduate School in 2018. Iinuma is currently based in Tokyo and Paris.
Starting point for Tamami Iinuma’s artist book is a memo block in shape of a spiral with paper in seven different colours which the artist found in a kiosk in Leipzig in 2009/10. Piled up to form a column/a colonne the artist photographed the paper blocks using a macro lens. Focusing beyond infinity the colours, their density and shades started flowing into each other. Tamami Iinuma tried to capture them like a surging wave through releasing the shutter. The photographs taken and assembled in this artist book evoke thoughts of a never ending landscapes, a waving sea that comes and goes and comes and goes.
